Burnley boss Sean Dyche closing in on £10m signing of Swansea ace Jack Cork
The Clarets look hopeful of getting the deal done quickly to bring Swans skipper back to Turf Moor for his third spell with the club
SWANSEA midfielder Jack Cork has been given permission to speak to Burnley regarding a £10million return move to Turf Moor.
The 28-year-old has impressed during his time at Swansea, but he is in the final year of his contract and faces a fight for his position next term.
Following the departure of Michael Kane and the absence of Joey Barton, Dyche is eager to fill the gaps within his side and fortify his midfield.
The midfielder faces a midfield battle at Swansea this season, with the likes of Leroy Fer, Leon Britton, Tom Caroll, Ki sung-Yeung and Roque Mesa all contending for starting XI spots.
This sparked the interest of the Burnley boss, who is hoping to bring Cork back to Turf Moor.
The 28-year-old enjoyed two loan spells at Burnley in the early stages of his career while he was still at Chelsea.
Cork has one season remaining on his current contract with the Swans, but Dyche is hoping that a bid of £10m will complete the deal.
Dyche and Cork have history, with the Burnley boss coaching the Englishman during his time at Watford.
Cork proved pivotal to the Swans success last season, but the introduction of new talent has left him battling for his place.
He featured 32 times last season, but he failed to score a single goal for his club.
However, Dyche has also shown interest in a handful of new players ahead of the pre-season.
The boss will be looking to bolster his midfield with the likes of Stoke City veteran Glenn Whelan and Crystal Palace's James McArthur.
Following Cork's rich vein of form last season, Burnley will not be alone in their quest for the youngster, so they best get the deal confirmed quickly.
