Leicester assure Demarai Gray of more first-team football to ward off interest from Liverpool and Tottenham

The young winger has been very vocal about his lack of opportunities for Leicester and has been promised more game time as a result

LEICESTER are determined to keep Demarai Gray at the King Power Stadium, despite the young player's frustrations over a lack of game time.

Craig Shakespeare has openly discussed the winger's frustrations but has promised him more first-team football.

Premiership clubs Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham, who all finished ahead of the Foxes, have expressed an interest in the 21-year-old who performed well for the young Lions this summer.

Gray made 30 appearances in the Premier League last season, but only nine of them were starts.

He got to stretch his legs in their Champions League campaign with five appearances and when he made all of these appearances his quick pace really paid dividends.

The Birmingham-born footballer came through the ranks at Birmingham City before signing for Leicester in 2016 for £3.5million.

Gray played a pivotal role for England Under-21s at the Euros, scoring twice before the Three Lions were knocked out by Germany on penalties in the semi-finals.

Ex-foxes player Alan Smith on the Leicester City website said: "It's helping Gray a lot to be playing for England, it's much better than to just be playing in training."

Having returned from England U21 duty, he has been given an extended break and is not in Austria with the team at their training camp.

He's currently enjoying his down time in Dubai, it is not yet known whether he'll join the Leicester squad in the Premier league Asia Trophy, in Hong Kong, later this month.
