Swansea star Gylfi Sigurdsson to reject Leicester in favour of £40m-plus switch to Everton
Sigurdsson has not travelled with Swansea for their pre-season trip to America hoping to wrap up move to Goodison Park
GYLFI SIGURDSSON will reject Leicester City in favour of a switch to Everton.
The Iceland international pulled out of Swansea’s pre-season tour of the USA amid the uncertainty over his future this summer.
The Foxes had a huge bid of £40million rejected by the Welsh side who have quoted a staggering £50m for Sigurdsson hoping to ward off any potential suitors.
But the massive price tag has not put off the Toffees who had similar bid rebuffed by the Swans who now looked resigned to losing their man.
Swans boss Paul Clement said he is desperate to keep arguably his best player at the Liberty Stadium, after their pre-season friendly with Barnet.
He said: “I have made it very clear I want him to stay here and the fans and the owners want that.
“But ultimately, there’s a business side to football as well.
“He’s a player, at the moment, that we’re not sure is going to be here at the start of the season."
Goodison Park is the 27-year-old’d preferred destination before the season kicks off next month and Toffees hierarchy are confident of thrashing out a deal.
The report the playmaker has been attracted by the ambition Everton have shown in the transfer market over the last 12 months.
