Kyle Walker’s move to Manchester City includes £2.5m add-on for winning Champions League in deal that could cost £89m

Right-back's move to Man City could rise to £50m and match the fee the world-record fee Chelsea paid to re-sign David Luiz

KYLE WALKER'S transfer to Manchester City could net Spurs an extra £2.5million if Pep Guardiola's team win the Champions League.

Spurs yesterday agreed to sell Walker for an initial £45m fee that City sources say could rise to £50m.

The add-ons could accrue in various ways - but will be capped at £5m.

Spurs will receive £1.5m for every time City win the Prem title with Walker in the ranks.

And they will be due an extra £1m for any Europa League win and £0.5m for each time City qualify for the Champions League.

There is every chance that the overall fee could rise to a figure which would match the £50m that Chelsea paid to re-sign David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain.

But the Walker deal will still fall short of that figure - unless City can bag a load of silverware in the right-back's time with the club.

That would also make him the most expensive English player, with the fee eclipsing the £49m City paid to Liverpool for Raheem Sterling.

Walker is undergoing a medical today ahead of penning a £150,000-a-week five-year deal.

With the £39m that Walker could bank over that period, the total cost of the deal could hit £89m - before player bonuses.

Championship newboys Sheffield United will get a sell-on fee of around £5m, having sold the England international to Spurs in 2009.

City are also confident of landing Benjamin Mendy in the next 24 hours.

The France left-back, 22, has been left out of Monaco's pre-season training camp so that he can seal a switch to City.

Completing moves for Walker and Mendy will come as a big relief to Guardiola.

Having released Gael Clichy, Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna, the City boss only has Aleksander Kolarov capable of playing at full-back on either flank.

Keeper Joe Hart is also expected to complete a loan move to West Ham.
