Leonardo Bonucci snubs Chelsea and Man City by signing for AC Milan in £35m deal until 2022

Shock move leaves Italian soccer pundits wondering if this spells the end of Juventus' reign as supreme rulers in Serie A

LEONARDO BONUCCI will join AC Milan in a shock move from Juventus for £32.5million, according to reports.

The defender's five-year contract will earn him £110,000 a week after tax, while the fee could be subject to £1.7m in add-ons.

Chelsea and Manchester City had been interested in signing 30-year-old Bonucci last summer.

Both clubs had monitored his situation carefully this time around, but the player does not want to leave Italy for personal reasons.

 insists this is the biggest coup of the transfer window so far in Italy and will likely define it.

The move has overshadowed Juventus' own purchase of Costa from Bayern Munich.

When the news broke, Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero spoke for many Juve fans when he said: "I thought it was a joke."

He told  "It's very surprising. I would never have thought anything like this could happen."

Furthermore, many Italian football commentators wonder if this shock move spells the end of Juventus' reign as supreme rulers in Serie A.

Bonucci has been a regular in the Juventus side that has swept all before them in Italy in recent years, winning the Italian title for the last six seasons.

He has also won the Coppa Italia on three occasions but his last match for the Turin side came at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in May.
