Swansea boss Paul Clement interested in snapping-up Las Palmas midfielder Jonathan Viera
Welsh side so far are not prepared to meet £26million release clause for Viera who is earmeaked as replacement for Gylfi Sigurdsson
SWANSEA CITY are plotting a big money move for Las Palmas attacker Jonathan Viera.
report the Swans are set to raid the Spanish side for the second time this summer following the signing of midfielder Roque Mesa.
Boss Paul Clement had an initial bid of £21million rejected with the La Liga side insisting any potential suitors must stump up the £26m release clause.
Clement has an inside knowledge of the Spanish market after spending two years with Real Madrid working under Carlo Ancelotti.
Swans chiefs made tentative enquiries about the former Spain Under-21 international while thrashing out a deal for Mesa.
Talks now looked to have reached an impasse which could allow Newcastle, Everton or Real Betis to steal a march on Swansea.
Viera can operate wide on the left or behind a main striker, which suggests he could be a direct replacement for Gylfi Sigurdsson who is keen to join Everton.
Viera scored seven goals and with seven assists in 31 La Liga games last season.
