Crystal Palace boss Frank de Boer on verge of completing £8m deal for Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald
De Boer is chasing a new centre-back after being priced out of a deal with Liverpool for Mamadou Sakho who was on loan at Palace last season
Crystal Palace are closing in on Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald for £8million.
The claim new Palace boss Frank de Boer will go back to his former club to land the defender who is keen on switch to the Premier League.
The 20-year-old can operate at centre-back and is a much cheaper option than Mamadou Sakho who looks to have been priced out of a move to Selhurst Park by Liverpool.
The Merseysiders quoted Palace £30m for the French defender who was hugely influential on loan under former Eagles boss Sam Allardyce last season.
De Boer knows all about Riedewald and what he could bring to Palace, the Dutchman handed the youngster his Ajax debut aged 17 in 2013.
Riedewald’s teammate in Holland Joel Veltman was also on the Londoners radar.
However the 25-year-old defender is set to sign a new deal to extend his stay with the Dutch giants.
Riedewald will be the second arrival this summer following Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan from Chelsea.
The Eagles are also chasing Bruno Martins Indi, the Porto defender enjoyed a successful stint on loan at Stoke last term who are also pushing to sign the Dutchman on a long-term deal.
Jack Wilshere is also on De Boer's radar, the Arsenal midfielder has a year left on his contract and looks well down the pecking order at the Emirates.
