MANCHESTER CITY have joined Chelsea in the £25m race for Real Madrid star Danilo.
Pep Guardiola has made a move for the 26-year-old Brazilian after losing out on Dani Alves to PSG.
City have opened talks with the full-back's representatives and are discussing personal terms.
Antonio Conte's Blues remain keen on the ex-Porto ace, but face a fight to seal his signature.
Guardiola was left fuming with former Barcelona star Alves after he snubbed them at the last minute to join the French giants.
He is desperate to land another full-back following the arrival of Kyle Walker, and is a fan of Danilo's versatility across the defence.
He can play on either flank and City have been impressed with his performances having scouted him on a number of occasions last season.
Real Madrid are also interested in City defender Nicolas Otamendi, who could become part of any deal.

An Etihad source said: "After what happened with Alves, the club have had to move on to other targets.
"Danilo is one of the names in the frame. Pep is a fan of him, and he isn't an expensive option.
"Madrid are keen on Otamendi, so are pushing their man towards the Etihad, despite Chelsea's firm interest.
"Danilo likes the idea of working under Pep, with plenty of game time being promised."
Meanwhile Danilo may not be the only Real Madrid ace heading to the Premier League.
Chelsea's hunt to land a new striker could be over as Sky Sport reporter Gianluca Di Marzio claims Alvaro Morata's move to Stamford Bridge is close to completion.
