ROSS BARKLEY faces more uncertainty over his future after Everton confirmed the midfielder will be out for a month following groin surgery.
The England midfielder has been linked with £50million moves to Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United this summer.
But any deal could now be off with the Toffees star set to miss the start of the Premier League season.
The injury prevented Barkley from travelling with the rest of Ronald Koeman's squad for pre-season ties in Tanzania and Holland.
He went under the knife on Wednesday and the operation is understood to have been a success.
Barkley, 23, has just one year left on his Goodison contract and had looked destined to leave this summer after refusing to sign an extension.
Mauricio Pochettino is a known admirer and Spurs have been favourites to sign the playmaker.
But club chiefs have been reluctant to meet his £50m asking price - reportedly leading to Chelsea and Man Utd to enter the race.
