Bastian Schweinsteiger, Tim Howard and Kaka named in MLS All-Star team to face Real Madrid
Other big-name selections include Giovani dos Santos, David Villa and Sebastian Giovinco for next month's showdown
FORMER Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been named alongside Tim Howard and Kaka in the MLS All-Star team to face Real Madrid.
The star trio will be joined by big names including Giovani dos Santos, David Villa and Sebastian Giovinco for next month's showdown.
Former Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore is another former Premier League star to take to the pitch to take on the La Liga champions in Chicago on August 2.
Schweinsteiger is still arguably the biggest name to be included for the game at Soldier Field, having only left United in March this year following an underwhelming 18-month stint.
The 121-cap Germany international failed to play a single Premier League game in 2016-17 before his move after calling time on his sensational career at Bayern Munich in the summer of 2015.
Since making the trip across The Pond, Schweinsteiger has played 15 times in the MLS, scoring twice.
The now-Chicago Fire midfielder even scored just 17 minutes into his debut.
Also in the MLS All-Star squad are USA internationals DaMarcus Beasley, Michael Bradley and Dom Dywer.
However, there is one shock as former Fulham and Tottenham ace Clint Dempsey has been snubbed from the squad.
