Newcastle agree £2m fee to sell striker Daryl Murphy to Championship side Nottingham Forest
Daryl Murphy will join Forest on a three-year deal after struggling for playing time at Newcastle last season
NEWCASTLE have reportedly finalised a deal to send Daryl Murphy to Forest.
The experienced striker signed a £2 million deal to keep him in Nottingham for three years.
The Magpies made his availability known after they secured a return back to the top-tier.
In his only season at St. James Park Murphy was underused by Rafa Benitez.
He had seven league starts and eight appearances off the bench with five goals for the Magpies.
But the Irish international has a good track record in the Championships after being the leagues top-scorer with 27 goals for Ipswich Town in the 2014-15 season.
Murphy spent seven seasons with the Tractor Boys on loan spells then permanently scoring 50 goals in 119 starts.
Mark Warburton has bought the 34-year-old to the City Ground to replace Britt Assombalonga who signed with Middlesbrough earlier this week.
Forest secured the striker after fending off interest from Birmingham City and Sunderland.
