HUDDERSFIELD boss David Wagner is eyeing-up a £4.5million swoop for Ghana midfield hard man Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu.
Wagner is ready to push his summer spending spree through the £50million barrier by making Agyemang-Badu his 10th signing since the Terriers won promotion to the Premier League by beating Reading in the play-off final at Wembley two months ago.
The German will make up his mind whether to move for Agyemang-Badu after watching the 26-year-old in action for Udinese in a pre-season outing against Town at the John Smith's Stadium tonight.
Wagner is currently assessing the strength of his re-vamped squad before deciding if more new buys are needed for the top flight battle ahead.
Agyemang-Badu would add more steel to Huddersfield's midfield with his ball-winning ability - and he is hungry for a move to England after spending seven years at the Serie A side.
He still has three years left on contract with the Italian outfit, and new Middlesbrough boss Garry Monk is keen to bring him to The Riverside to help relegated Boro's push for an instant return to the top flight.
But Agyemang-Badu, who has won 76 caps for his country, favours a switch to Huddersfield because it would give him the opportunity to realise his ambition to play in the Premier League.
But SunSport has reported how the signing of Agyemang-Badu could be just beaten by Dimitri Cavare signing up.

The French right-back played for the Terriers in their 1-0 win over Barnsley on Saturday.
And he will line up again for Wagner’s side in Wednesday’s friendly with Italian side Udinese as he bids to clinch a move.
Cavare, 22, is free to move from Rennes after losing his place in the side last season.
