Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in pole position to beat Tottenham to £35m-rated Nice star Jean-Michael Seri
Midfielder was one of the standouts in Ligue 1 last season as Nice secured Champions League spot
ARSENAL have leapfrogged Tottenham into pole position to land Jean-Michael Seri, according to reports.
The Nice midfielder was one of the stars of Ligue 1 last season as his side secured Champions League qualification.
Seri bagged seven goals and nine assists and has been likened to Chelsea's N'Golo Kante.
And now French newspaper say that Arsenal are lining up a £35million bid for the Ivorian.
Swansea - who are holding firm over the £50m sale of Gylfi Sigurdsson - have reportedly had a £15m bid for Seri rebuffed.
And Spurs are also in the market for another midfielder.
But it is Arsenal who hold the cards - even if they are on the brink of landing Monaco's Thomas Lemar in a £45m deal.
The Gunners have been desperate to land the French international and SunSport understands the Premier League side have finally made a breakthrough.
Latest Arsenal transfer news
Arsene Wenger has already had bids rejected for the 21-year-old, with Monaco demanding £80m for a player they signed from Caen two years ago.
Monaco were hoping the huge numbers quoted would deter Arsenal and help them keep Lemar for another season on the premise his value would increase, sparking another bidding war next season.
