ARSENAL have leapfrogged Tottenham into pole position to land Jean-Michael Seri, according to reports.
The Nice midfielder was one of the stars of Ligue 1 last season as his side secured Champions League qualification.
Swansea - who are holding firm over the £50m sale of Gylfi Sigurdsson - have reportedly had a £15m bid for Seri rebuffed.
And Spurs are also in the market for another midfielder.
But it is Arsenal who hold the cards - even if they are on the brink of landing Monaco's Thomas Lemar in a £45m deal.

Arsene Wenger has already had bids rejected for the 21-year-old, with Monaco demanding £80m for a player they signed from Caen two years ago.
