Diego Costa’s agent Jorge Mendes holds talks with AC Milan over switch to big-spending Italian giants after being ditched by Chelsea
Italian club's chairman Marco Fassone confirms talks have taken place about Spanish striker who is no longer wanted by Blues boss Antonio Conte
AC MILAN have confirmed they have been speaking to Diego Costa's agent about signing the Chelsea striker.
According the Sky Sports, the Italian club's chairman Marco Fassone revealed they have been in talks with Jorge Mendes.
Fassone said: "I would prefer to avoid talking about players from other teams; Diego Costa is a great player, but a Chelsea player.
"We went to see Jorge Mendes; there is a lot you can talk to him about. Costa is a great player but he is of Chelsea. That's all."
Costa, who was born in Brazil but switched allegiance to represent Spain, has been told by Blues boss Antonio Conte that he is no longer wanted at Stamford Bridge.
The striker top-scored for Chelsea as they won the Premier League last season, in Conte's first season in charge.
But he revealed last month that he had been informed by Conte - via text message - that he should leave the club.
Costa was said to have had his head turned last season by the chance of a mega-money transfer to the Chinese Super League.

He has also found time to enjoy a spot of jet-skiing - with his pet dog - as he waits for his future to be decided.
Chelsea have already brought in a replacement for Costa, spending £65m to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
Costa is keen to return to his former side Atletico Madrid, but the Spanish club's transfer ban prevents them from signing new players until January.
The player could be open to a temporary move to another club before he can rejoin Atletico.
