AC Milan ‘make Zlatan Ibrahimovic transfer attempt’ but Manchester United still hopeful of re-signing former striker if he proves fitness
Serie A giants have been one of most active sides this summer bringing in big names such as Andre Silva and Leonardo Bonucci
AC MILAN will make an attempt to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to reports in Italy.
The Swede is a free agent after a serious knee injury cut short his first season at Manchester United — but the Red Devils are monitoring his progress with the view to offering him a new deal.
The Rossoneri have been among the most active sides on the transfer front this summer with series of high-profile signings — including Andre Silva and Leonardo Bonucci.
Yet Vincenzo Montella is still in the market for one more centre forward, having missed out on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and seemingly Diego Costa.
Ibrahimovic spent two seasons in the red and black of Milan from 2010 to 2012, winning the Serie A title in his first campaign.
But he was allowed to leave for Paris Saint-Germain, where he enjoyed arguably the best period of his career — despite having turned 30.
While he may no longer be the most mobile of strikers, Ibrahimovic has shown he has what it takes to cut it in Serie A, having scored regularly for Juventus, Inter Milan, and the Rossoneri.
And he netted an impressive 17 goals for United last season at the age of 35.
Furthermore, Ibrahimovic would represent one of the stellar names Milan are searching for to mark the dawn of their new era.
