Manchester United handed Ivan Perisic blow as Inter Milan issue issued hands off warning and offer Croatia winger new deal
Jose Mourinho has been trying to thrash out a £45m deal
MANCHESTER UNITED look set to lose out in their pursuit of Ivan Perisic.
Inter Milan have offered the Croatia winger a new contract - and issued a hands-off warning to the Old Trafford giants.
Jose Mourinho targeted Perisic, 28, at the start of the summer with the two clubs playing hardball over a fee since.
Inter's sporting director insists that neither Perisic or Antonio Candreva - wanted by Chelsea - are for sale.
Piero Ausilio said: "I don't understand where some of these stories come from.
"(Antonio) Candreva has never been on the market and we have absolutely no intention of selling him.
"The same goes for Perisic, who is an important player and we are currently discussing a new contract with him."
Mourinho appeared to have been given hope of landing Perisic last week.
The Manchester United boss had been trying to thrash out a £45million deal.

He said: "For the last two years Perisic has played at Inter.
"With Perisic we didn't win anything. The team is important not one player."
Chelsea have been linked with Candreva but the Italian would only leave if a replacement is found.
Spalletti added: "A lot of things happened during this summer in the market and this is another thing. But this is not true.
"We intend to keep Candreva. Even if we sell him we will need to bring in another wide player."
