Kylian Mbappe ‘tells Real Madrid he wants to leave Monaco and join them this summer after talks with his dad’

Mbappe could be on the move to the Bernabeu sooner rather than later, as he tells Madrid he wants to join them

TEEN starlet Mbappe has told Madrid he wants to leave Monaco and join Real Madrid this summer, according to Spanish reports.

AS claim that the Frenchman and his father, Wilfried, met with Madrid representatives in June to discuss his future.

At the meeting the rising star Mbappe expressed his desire to play for the Champions League winners next season.

Madrid reportedly had a £161m bid accepted for the Frenchman, but as with most mega-money deals, they take a long time to finalise.

Their pursuit of Mbappe was made easier when Paris Saint-Germain landed £196m man Neymar, after months of speculation.

That should open the door for Madrid to go all guns blazing for the young forward, however Barcelona could jump in given their sudden injection of cash from the Neymar deal.

The 18-year-old reportedly wants out of Monaco, after the mass transfer exodus of their title winning team.

Mbappe is one of the only stars left after Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko all moved to England, with Thomas Lemar looking close to signing for Arsenal.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola - who is also interested in the player - boasted that City can compete financially with Madrid.

This may make Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane's pursuit of the player more complicated.

Zidane, like many, is a big fan of the youngster, and after losing Spanish striker Alvaro Morata to Chelsea, he's invested in Mbappe as his replacement.

"He is a talent, he is 18 years old, he has personality,"  Zidane said to ESPN.

"He is very good, very good as a player and has shown it all year, but he is not a player of mine.

"Apart from what I'm telling you, I can not tell you more."
