JUVENTUS have made Emre Can their No 1 priority in central midfield, according to reports in Italy.

Reinforcements in the middle of the park are Massimiliano Allegri’s main concern this summer.

report that Can is their “chosen one” — and Liverpool will ask for around £27million.

However, with Philippe Coutinho seemingly close to joining Barcelona for around £90m, it is unlikely Jurgen Klopp would agree to let another midfielder leave.

Allegri is still in the process of rebuilding his midfield that has been decimated since they reached the Champions League final in 2015.

In his first season at Juventus, the central quartet included Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Claudio Marchisio — with only the latter still at the club.

And he has been troubled with injuries since.

Blaise Matuidi and Axel Witsel is among other central midfielders Juventus have been keeping an eye on, but Can is just 23 and was part of the Germany side which won the Confederations Cup this summer.

He made seven appearances for Bayern Munich in their Treble-winning season of 2012-13, but struggled to break into the side and joined Bayer Leverkusen that summer.

After just one season, he moved to Liverpool but has been largely a frustrating figure at Anfield, despite his potential.

Juventus have an impressive recent record in resurrecting the careers of struggling players.

Pirlo joined from AC Milan in 2011 at the age of 32 and went onto win Serie A Player of the Year three seasons in a row — while Sami Khedira and Dani Alves also enjoyed positive moments in their careers after moving to the Turin giants.

So far, Juventus have made five high-profile signings.

Federico Bernardeschi arrived from Fiorentina, while they signed Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich, Wojciech Szczesny from Arsenal, Rodrigo Bentancur from Boca Juniors and Mattia Di Sciglio from Milan.
