Tottenham transfer news: Spurs closing in on £50m Pape Cheikh Diop and Davinson Sanchez swoop as they move on from Ross Barkley
Mauricio Pochettino set to bolster his ranks as he prepares to make first signings of the summer as doubts rise over Ross Barkley deal
TOTTENHAM are closing in on a £50million double swoop for Pape Cheikh Diop and Davinson Sanchez, casting huge doubt over a potential deal for Everton star Ross Barkley.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is finally set to add to his ranks before the window closes, with the club now seriously questioning if a deal for the England international is worth pursuing.
Ajax defender Sanchez was one of the success stories of the Dutch giants' Europa League campaign and was outstanding in the final against Manchester United in May.
The 21-year-old Colombian will cost £35m and is keen to continue his development in the Premier League under Pochettino.
Diop is expected to be the next addition at White Hart Lane - the Spanish youth international will cost £15m and hope to make his switch to England next week.
The 20-year-old was born in Senegal but raised in Spain and made 19 appearances for Celta Vigo last season.
Diop is thought to be one of the brightest young players coming through the Spanish system.
The Celta kid is a box-to-box midfielder, and with the other midfield options available to Poch and the system he deploys, there seems little room for Barkley, especially with the figures involved in a potential move south.
Spurs were quoted around £50m for Barkley who has a year left to run on his Goodison Park contract.
And he has no intention of extending his stay on Merseyside.
