Tottenham flop Paulinho joins Barcelona leaving Twitter in meltdown after shock transfer
Midfielder made the switch from Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande to the Catalan giants in a move worth £36.5million
BARCELONA stunned social media users who cannot believe they have signed Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande for £36.5million.
The club announced the transfer on social media and the news was hit with a wall of shock and surprise by football fans around the world.
Some cannot believe the timing of the announcement, as it comes a day after Barca's humiliating 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid at the Nou Camp.
The Tottenham flop joined the Chinese Super League in 2015 for £10m and people see the move as a backwards step for Barca following Neymar's departure.
Liverpool talisman Philippe Coutinho has been heavily linked with a move to Nou Camp as a replacement for Neymar, but so far fans have had to settle for Paulinho.
Paulinho has become Barcelona's fourth most expensive player in the club's history.
