CHELSEA have suffered a devastating blow in their pursuit of Alex Sandro after Juventus revealed the player has asked to stay put this summer.
The left-back was high up on Antonio Conte’s shopping list as competition for title-winning ace Marcos Alonso.
But Chelsea will be forced to look elsewhere after Sandro begged Juventus not to sell him, with additional reports claiming the Blues have seen a £63million bid turn down in recent days.
Turin chief Beppe Marotta said: “The only player who has asked us to stay is Alex Sandro.
“That makes us very pleased, so we will definitely reject Chelsea’s offer at this time.”
Marotta also took to time to confirm a failed bid for Lazio winger Balde Keita Diao, while also discussing a number of other potential ins and outs at the club.
He added: “Keita is an opportunity that, for contractual conditions and age, all clubs must at least try to take, with all due respect for President Claudio Lotito and Lazio.
“Emre Can and Adrien Rabiot are also players whose contracts expire in 2018, like Keita, but they play regularly for their teams without any drama.

“We made an offer to Lotito that we consider to be fair, then he is able to decide his strategies in his own club and so we have withdrawn.
“Asamoah Gyan mentioned the possibility of joining Galatasaray but did not ask to leave, the same with Cuadrado.
“There are still 15 days to handle any requests from other clubs. Valencia’s Ezequiel Garay? He’s a great player.”
