DANI ALVES could miss Paris Saint-Germain’s clash with Toulouse after the star’s auntie drowned in a river.

The Brazilian full-back is believed to be heartbroken following the loss of Marlucia Francisca Ribeiro on Friday.

She was reportedly out doing her errands when she became unbalanced and fell into the Sa Francisco River in Juazeiro, northern Bahia, and ultimately lost her life.

The 34-year-old’s brother revealed the families devastation to news outlet Tiki Takas in their homeland.

He said: "My mother had a terrible time. It was a tremendous blow.

“She did not sit well, but now she's calmer. We went to the hospital because she suffered from blood pressure and felt bad.”

Alves’ mother, Lucia, also wrote on Instagram: "A lot of pain for losing my sister, my best friend and my partner.

“My world collapsed.”

The former Barcelona defender, who was recently joined at PSG by the world’s most-expensive player Neymar, was informed of the news yesterday.

Although he is not expected to return to South America, it remains to be seen whether he will be available for the Ligue 1 clash tomorrow.

Alves, 34, has still not commented on the tragedy publicly.

He is expected to make a statement later this afternoon to confirm whether he will be making his home debut this weekend.
