CHELSEA have gambled on the fitness of new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko after he was handed a Premier League debut at Tottenham.

Bakayoko has missed the entire pre-season since joining from Monaco after undergoing a minor knee operation in the summer.

But the £40m midfielder comes straight in from the start at Wembley along with fellow summer signing Alvaro Morata as Antonio Conte takes a gamble on team selection.

Bakayoko has played just one behind closed doors friendly in an attempt to build up his fitness levels to prepare him for match action.

But Chelsea boss Conte was left with no choice after Cesc Fabregas was sent off against Burnley last week, joining Gary Cahill in being suspended for this game.

Tottenham make two changes from the side who started the win at Newcastle with Kieran Trippier recovering from injury to start at right back.

Tripper replaces Kyle Walker-Peters in the starting line-up, although the young right-back is still in line to get a new contract as Spurs look to tie him down long-term.

Victor Wanyama is the other change from Newcastle, with the midfielder replacing Moussa Sissoko.

The match is the first time Tottenham are playing a Premier League game at their temporary Wembley home while White Hart Lane is developed.
