ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has revealed he will need to SELL players before he will bring in any new stars this summer.

The Gunners have got off to a sub-par start to the 2017-18 season - leaving it very late to beat Leicester 4-3 on opening day before losing to Stoke on Saturday.

With Mesut Ozil singled-out for criticism and both the German and Alexis Sanchez set to leave the Emirates this window, Wenger has revealed he WILL sell.

The Frenchman claimed it is impossible to add more players to his already saturated squad without giving some the boot first.

After the 1-0 loss at the bet365 Stadium, Wenger said: "I expect to sell players first.

"We have too many players. It is not manageable. Many clubs are in this situation - that is why the transfer market is quiet.

Arsenal have already splashed out big to bring in Alexandre Lacazette this summer, while also adding Sead Kolasinac on a free.

However, earlier this summer, Wenger revealed he wanted to offload EIGHT players, including Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Debuchy, Jack Wilshere, Carl Jenkinson and Kieran Gibbs.

Yet only Wojciech Szczesny and Gabriel Paulista have been given the boot this summer.

Wenger still harbours hope of landing one - or both - of Monaco ace Thomas Lemar and Paris Saint-Germain's Julian Draxler before the window slams shut.
