PSG star Neymar slams former club Barcelona’s board and insists supporters ‘deserve much better’

Brazilian forward takes a swipe at his old employers as he says the 'directors shouldn't be there' and reveals how 'very sad' they made him prior to world-record £198m move

NEYMAR has slammed former club Barcelona’s board by insisting supporters “deserve much better” than their current leadership.

The 25-year-old Brazilian is currently enjoying a fine start to life in Paris following his move to PSG earlier this month.

Despite having signed a contract extension just one year ago, he departed the Nou Camp for the French giants in a world-record £198million deal.

He is making a flying start to life at the Parc des Princes, with his two goals in the 6-2 demolition over Toulouse on Sunday adding to a debut strike against Guingamp last week.

Following his triumphant home debut for the Ligue 1 side, the attacker faced the media to shed some further light on the reasons behind his blockbuster summer switch.

And he did not mince his words when it came to discussing senior officials at his old stomping ground.

He told : “When I arrived everything started well but then… at Barcelona, there are directors that shouldn’t be there.

“I’m very sad with them.”

Neymar continued: “I had four very happy years there, but Barca deserve much better.

“I have a lot of friends there, I hope things get better for Barca and that they go back to being a team that can compete.”

The forward clearly still holds feelings for Catalonia having spent a chunk of his career in Spain.

Emotions nearly got the better of him as he and his new team-mates paid tribute to the victims of the recent terror attack with a minute’s silence prior to last night’s victory.

Meanwhile, his old side finally appear to be getting over the hangover of losing one of their key men.

Having been thumped by Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, they returned to winning ways as they kicked off their La Liga campaign with a 2-0 success over Real Betis yesterday.
