Tottenham sign Paulo Gazzaniga from Southampton as Maurcio Pochettino completes first capture of the summer
Saints stopper Gazzaniga snapped up on five-year deal to provide cover in the squad as Spurs finally get some business done in the transfer window
TOTTENHAM have completed the signing of Paulo Gazzaniga from Southampton - their first new player of the summer.
Argentine keeper Gazzaniga has completed the switch from the south coast to north London to provide cover for goalkeepers Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm.
The 25-year-old has agreed a five-year deal to become the first new player to arrive at Spurs since the end of last season.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino believed he needed to strengthen his goalkeeping options with the club having to joggle Premier League and Champions League football.
And he made his move for Gazzaniga, who he managed during his time in charge of Saints, when he found himself a long way down the pecking order there.
Gazzaniga made 23 appearances over five years with Saints having been signed as a promising youngster from Gillingham.
But he never managed to establish himself as first choice and saw any hopes of a future at the club ended when they signed Fraser Forster from Celtic.
He spent last season in Spain on loan at Rayo Vallecano, and is now expected to be third choice behind Lloris and Vorm at Spurs.
