Everton and West Brom lining up late swoop for Watford’s star striker Troy Deeney in the coming days
The 29-year-old could be set for a switch away from Vicarage Road following the arrival of Andre Gray from Burnley
EVERTON and West Brom are weighing up a late move for Troy Deeney.
The Watford skipper has been forced to compete with Andre Gray as boss Marco Silva’s main striker, sparking interest from Premier League rivals.
Toffees manager Ronald Koeman is desperate for a forward to replace Romelu Lukaku and has Deeney, 29, in his sights.
Real Sociedad’s Willian Jose is also on the Dutchman’s radar, while scouts have been impressed by Cardiff’s Kenneth Zohore.
But Deeney has Prem experience and a proven track record of leading the Hornets attack.
West Brom chief Tony Pulis has made Deeney a main target this week if a deal can be struck with club and player.
Pulis is also ready to make a late move for Bournemouth defender Marc Wilson.
Silva wants to bolster his Vicarage Road attack with Leicester striker Islam Slimani, which would add to competition for Deeney.
Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs is also set for talks with Watford over a move.
The England left-back needs to agree personal terms before his switch.
But Silva’s side have agreed a deal for Gibbs, 27, who is down the pecking order at the Emirates.
He wants a move now rather than running his contract down until the end of the season and going for free.
