Tottenham set to sign Serge Aurier after £23m PSG star is given Home Office go-ahead to complete move

Ivorian full-back can now officially put pen to paper on his five-year deal after the move to Spurs  is given the green light

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN star Serge Aurier has been given the Home Office go-ahead to complete his £23million Tottenham switch.

The Ivorian full-back, 24, can now officially put pen to paper on his five-year deal, after Spurs beat Chelsea and Manchester United to the signing.

Tottenham were left sweating on getting international clearance for the Ivory Coast defender — after he was found guilty of assaulting a police officer last year.

It led to him being refused entry to the UK when PSG came to play Arsenal in last season’s Champions League.

Aurier has launched an appeal against his conviction and Tottenham were left waiting to see whether the Home Office will allow him into the country.

But now it would appear the full-back was given the all-clear to complete his move to the North London club - who is the natural replacement for the departed Kyle Walker.

Bookies have even suspended all betting on Aurier's new club, as the move to Spurs looks all but complete.

Spurs have already bolstered their back-line after the club-record acquisition of Davinson Sanchez from Ajax.

But Pochettino was keen to add another right-back after Walker’s Manchester City switch left Kyle Walker-Peters as Kieran Trippier’s only back-up.

News of Aurier’s decision will be a blow to Man United boss Jose Mourinho, who was keen to add the full-back to his ranks to provide competition to Antonio Valencia.

Aurier could be available to make his Spurs debut after the international break, against Everton.
