LIVERPOOL have pulled out of the race for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and are focussing on completing the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
It has been claimed that Anfield officials had sent a team to the south of France in order to thrash out a deal with the French champions.
But claims those reports are false and that the Reds have shelved their interest.
Arsenal had been favourites to sign the 21-year-old winger but were priced out of a move.
Liverpool them ramped up their efforts to bring him to the Premier League in a deal believed to be around £75million.
But they have found negotiations tough going with the Principality outfit as they came under pressure to complete the switch on Wednesday.
And with Lemar set to feature for France against Holland in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday, there is not enough time to get it finalised.
They instead prefer to focus on getting Oxlade-Chamberlain in the bag.
LATEST LIVERPOOL TRANSFER NEWS
The England midfielder is determined to leave Arsenal before close of play tomorrow.

He wants to play in midfield and would have been used as a wing-back at Stamford Bridge.
And he is now due to join Jurgen Klopp’s squad within the next 24 hours.

Barcelona are now said to be plotting a swoop for Lemar with the Spanish window closing a day later than in England.
