MANCHESTER CITY will make a final £70million bid to land Alexis Sanchez with the deal now set to go through by tonight.
City have had an opening offer of £50million turned down.
Now they are ready to pay the extra £20million to get the deal done as Pep Guardiola looks to boost his squad after a sluggish start to the new season.
City have officials in Chile to get the players signature on a pre-prepared contract.
Sanchez is there in the capital Santiago ahead of Chile’s world cup qualifier against Paraguay tonight.
Arsenal were holding firm in their bid to keep Sanchez.
But it is understood there was a major shift in thinking following Sanchez’s performance in Arsenal’s 4-0 defeat at Anfield on Sunday.
Sanchez was awful and was hauled off just past the hour mark.

The club now accept it will be difficult to get the best out of a player who clearly wants out.
He understandably believes his best chances of landing a title winners medal comes at The Etihad rather than The Emirates.
Landing Sanchez will substantially bolster City’s already enviable array of attacking talent along with main front men Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero.
The Etihad club are convinced they have the right staff on the ground in Chile to get the deal done with the player - if necessary.
All they are missing is an agreement with Arsenal - but that is obviously the tricky part.
The feeling is that the Gunners want a replacement signed before they push the button on a straight cash deal.
Sanchez is due to play for his country at 11.30pm BST tonight making the timing of the deal even more tricky.
City normally make it very clear when a transfer isn't going to happen - and as yet they haven't done - so there is still a chance.
City have not only targeted the title this season but the Champions League as well.
Their deadline day activity is not set to stop at Sanchez as they try to force through a deal for former Manchester United centre back Jonny Evans.
West Brom are ready to let Evans make a £25million move back to Manchester but only if they get City’s Eliaquim Mangala on loan in return.
But desperate Crystal Palace are also trying to land the City centre-back as they try to kick-start their season after a horror start.
