IVAN PERISIC is reportedly set to sign a new Inter Milan contract which includes a £64million release clause to ward off interest from Manchester United.
The winger was one of Jose Mourinho’s top transfer targets during the summer window.
Perisic was listed along with Nemanja Matic, Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku as one of four players the Special One requested to bolster his squad.
But despite signing the other three, Mourinho failed to get his mitts on Perisic – despite the player keen on a move to Old Trafford.
However, the arrival of Luciano Spalletti at the San Siro convinced Perisic to stay put.
And after a barnstorming start to the Serie A season, the winger is now ready to put pen-to-paper on a lucrative new deal.
Tuttosport via claims Perisic will earn £4.3million a year, making him Inter’s second-highest earner behind captain Mauro Icardi.
But more significantly, the contract will include a release clause set at well over £60m – virtually putting him out of United’s reach.
But Red Devils fans will be pleased to hear that their club could end up moving for Thomas Lemar instead.
Paul Pogba posted a picture to Instagram hinting he was trying to convince the Monaco ace to join him at the Theatre of Dreams.
