ARSENE WENGER admits he was almost walked out on Arsenal — but now believes the crisis club can now win the league.
The Gunners have suffered a dreadful start to the season and are now in turmoil following an embarrassing 4-0 hammering at the hands of Liverpool.
The Frenchman controversially signed a new two-year deal at the club in May but admitted he almost called time at the club he has managed for 20 years.
Wenger told Telefoot: “Yes I hesitated about signing a new contract for personal reasons.
"I have been at Arsenal for 20 years and I ask myself all the time if I should continue to run the club.
"And also because we struggled a lot last season. Coaching a different club would be possible.
“There have been contacts with PSG.”
PSG have been long-time admirers of Wenger but failed to lure him to the Parc des Princes in the summer.

Wenger then penned a contract extension to the anger of many Arsenal fans who wanted him out.
But the former Monaco boss seems unfazed by the fan backlash that has come with their abysmal beginning to the first team.
Wenger added: "We started with a home game where we won right at the end, after that we lost the second one playing well but not efficient, and we lost the third with a catastrophic performance.
"It raises a lot of questions and doubts, but despite everything I think the team has genuine potential and we must take things in hand.
"Like any time in crisis the important thing is to win the next match."
The Gunners will be hoping to get their season back on track next Saturday as they host Bournemouth.
