RAFA BENITEZ is a major doubt for Newcastle's trip to Swansea.
The Toon boss suffered an infection following hernia surgery and has been absent from training so far this week.
According to , the problem could keep Benitez away from the touchline for Sunday's clash at the Liberty Stadium.
The Spaniard went under the knife two years ago to sort out a hernia problem before he took over at Real Madrid.
But Benitez is said to have experienced pain since the op and chose to go back into hospital during the recent international break.
He had originally planned to get back on Toon's Benton training pitches on Tuesday.
But the infection has kept Benitez out of action and, reportedly, he is now on antibiotics in a bid to return to full fitness.
Benitez's team are chasing a second straight win following their 3-0 triumph over West Ham.
But Benitez was livid after Newcastle failed to strengthen on deadline day.
The Toon boss wanted a left-back and a striker.
But approaches for Kenedy, Matt Targett, Divock Origi and Lucas Perez all came to nothing.
