Norwegian youngster was set to become free agent next summer but will be staying put at Bernabeu for the time being

MARTIN ODEGAARD has revealed he’s signed a new contract at Real Madrid.

The 18-year-old made headlines when he joined Los Blancos in January 2015 after being chased by a large number of elite European teams.

But Odegaard made just one senior appearance for Real and was quickly demoted to the Castilla ‘B’ side.

His Santiago Bernabeu career then took a further hit when he was shipped off to Dutch minnows Heerenveen on an 18-month loan deal last winter.

But it seems Real boss Zinedine Zidane is confident Odegaard will eventually blossom and has placed his trust in the youngster by handing him a new deal.

The Norway international was set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

in his homeland, Odegaard was asked if he had indeed signed a new contract past the summer of 2018.

VG reckon Odegaard is now tied down to Los Blancos until 2021, which indicates he’ll have three years to prove himself when his loan spell ends in June next year.

It’s also said that Real have a policy of not announcing new contracts for Castilla players, meaning Odegaard is being treated no differently to his reserve team pals despite pocketing a salary reportedly worth £80,000-a-week.
