Tottenham flop Vincent Janssen mobbed in Turkey as he lands in Istanbul to seal Fenerbahce deal
VINCENT JANSSEN has been mobbed by Turkish fans after touching down in Istanbul to complete his loan move to Fenerbahce from Tottenham.
The Dutch striker's transfer to Turkey has left Diego Costa's future up in the air as the Chelsea man had come agonisingly close to agreeing terms with the club.
After a miserable campaign that only saw him fire two Premier League goals in 27 appearances, former £17m man Janssen has been allowed to leave Spurs.
And the Turkish giants revealed he is due to complete his move this afternoon after he jetted into the capital from London.
He will sign a deal to join them on loan until the end of the season, just days after French side Lille revealed they had rejected him.
Fenerbahce confirmed on Friday morning: "Our club, in principle, has agreed with the player himself and his club on the leasing of Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur and Dutch national team striker Vincent Janssen.
"The 23-year-old striker will arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport at 12:30 today and negotiations will continue in Istanbul."
Spurs signed Spanish forward Fernando Llorente from Swansea last week to bolster their front line.

That has led to Janssen being left out of Tottenham's Champions League squad, with long-term injury absentee Erik Lamela the only other senior player to be axed.
Manager Maurico Pochettino had insisted earlier this week that he still had a role to play this season, but it now appears the Argentine chief has had a change of heart.
Poch had said: "Yes of course [he has a future]. The next question is why he is not in Champions League squad. That is about numbers.
"We only have 17 places [with eight home-grown players required in the selection]. We are 19, so him and Lamela we decided [to leave out].
“But in January we check again to see if we change the names in the squad. But, yes, he has a future like other players here.”
Meanwhile, the move will come as a blow to Chelsea striker Costa.
Both Fenerbahce and Besiktas wanted to sign the AWOL hitman on loan until January.
However, Janssen's switch all but rules out the possibility of him going to Fener.
The Blues misfit failed to secure his dream return to Atletico Madrid last month.
But Costa could yet escape Antonio Conte’s clutches by moving to Turkey on a short-term basis.
Reports in Spain via had claimed Besiktas are ready to move for the striker before the Super Lig’s transfer window slams shut on Friday - rivalling Fenerbahce for his services.
Costa will be hoping to resurrect his switch back to his old employers in the Spanish capital once their transfer ban is lifted and they are able to buy players again in January.
The summer transfer window was one the craziest we have ever seen.
