ARSENAL suffered yet more heartache this summer with a failed Deadline-Day bid for French keeper Cedric Carrasso.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger earmarked the 35-year-old keeper available on a free transfer after departing Bordeuax as cover for Petr Cech and David Ospina.

Corrasso joined Galatasaray, but revealed he was in advanced talks to join the North Londoners, but the move to the Premier League broke down due to issues with agents.

The French international told L’Equipe: “Arsene Wenger wanted to work with three good goalkeepers in his squad, and I was lined up to join them as third choice.
"At first I thought that being third keeper and not being in their matchday squad would not be very interesting.
"But then I told myself: 'It's Arsenal after all. Let's give it a go.
"However, once again I had problems with agents."
Carrasso also attracted interest from Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Hearts saw a move to Sporting Lisbon fall through amid uncertainties over who represented him.
