A WHOPPING 74 per cent of football fans believe Wayne Rooney deserves to play against Spurs this weekend despite his arrest for drink driving during the international break.
In a poll open to Everton fans and neutrals the choice of supporters is clear: the former England skipper deserves a chance of redemption against Tottenham.
The question of Rooneys starting place came into question when Everton Boss Ronald Koeman commented on the incident.
Koeman claimed that the ex-England captain will face some form of punishment.
He said: "He will be punished at the appropriate time."
It is clear though, that Koeman will not allow Rooney's run in with the law to affect their chances against Spurs.
And recently announced team news reveals that the voters were right, as Rooney as been named in the starting XI in today's important game.
Whether the forward allows this incident to affect his ability to influence the game remains to be seen but it is clear Koeman is willing to let this go without major punishment - at least in the form of being dropped.
