AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini reveals Diego Maradona and Ronaldo were toughest opponents he faced
Italian legend and seven time Champions League winner admitted the South American duo gave him the biggest challenge during his 25-year career
PAOLO MALDINI has revealed Diego Maradona and Ronaldo to be his two toughest opponents.
The AC Milan legend enjoyed an illustrious career after debuting in 1985 and went on to win seven Serie A titles and the Champions League five times.
But the Italian defender has admitted the two South American legends were the players that gave him the hardest challenge on the pitch.
Maldini, 49, told Bild: "I was lucky enough to play against Maradona.
"He and Ronaldo, when he was at Inter Milan - they were my toughest opponents."
Maldini was lucky enough to play under some of the most talented managers in the game before hanging up his boots in 2009.
The likes of Carlo Ancelotti and Fabio Capello tutored Maldini during his 900-plus games for the Rossoneri.
And Maldini has named the coach he believes in the best in the world right now, and name-dropped Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp in his list.

Maldini said: "The best coach right now? Hard to say.
"There are many good ones — like Diego Simeone.
"Maybe Zinedine Zidane, but he still lacks experience.
"I also like what Jürgen Klopp does in Liverpool and how he made Dortmund play."
