Johan Djourou fleeced out of thousands of pounds as former Arsenal defender falls victim of Airbnb scam
JOHAN DJOUROU has been fleeced out of THOUSANDS in an Airbnb scam.
The ex-Arsenal defender tried to rent a house in Geneva for the summer and his wife Emilie used the letting website to make the booking.
Djourou and his family drove for 10 hours to reach the Swiss city, only to find the property did not exist!
The Switzerland international, 30, fumed: "We got fooled!
"If you have to pay something on one platform, stay on the same platform - if you are deported anywhere else, don't trust it!
"We made a booking through @airbnb to rent a house in Geneva for all summer, but Emilie got deported to another website to make the payment.
"Little did we know that after a 10hrs drive from Hamburg to Geneva that the house we paid for was nowhere to be seen.
"The money is gone, the kids crying of tiredness in the back. Emilie and me trying to stay strong, but we are exhausted too."
Djourou eventually found a house through local property firm Keysnfly.
Born in the Ivory Coast, he moved to Geneva with his family aged 17 months.
He began his career with local side Etoile Carouge before Gunners boss Arsene Wenger signed him in 2003.
The centre-back spent 11 seasons with the Gunners, making 140 appearances, before joining Hamburg in 2014.
He has just signed for Turkish club Antalyaspor.
The summer transfer window was one the craziest we have ever seen.
