Paul Pogba injury: Manchester United star to ‘miss a few weeks’ after leaving Old Trafford on crutches after match against Basel
Manchester United captain for the day was replaced by Marouane Fellaini in the 18th minute
MANCHESTER UNITED have been dealt a major injury blow after seeing Paul Pogba leave Old Trafford on crutches.
The stand-in United skipper was forced off in the 18th minute with a suspected hamstring injury and replaced by Marouane Fellaini in the 18th minute.
Early signs suggest he is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines during a busy period for Jose Mourinho's men.
Mourinho confirmed the midfielder would miss the weekend's clash with Everton.
He said: "I don't know, it looks like a hamstring injury.
"By experience it's a muscular bigger or small and that could stop him playing for a few weeks.
"The squad are for this. We don't cry. No Paul for Sunday.
"We have [Andre] Herrera, [Michael] Carrick, [Marouane] Fellaini and [Nemanja] Matic."
Pogba went in for a challenge and received a kick.
He immediately felt the back of his leg and signalled to the bench that it was serious.
Mourinho ordered his go-to man Fellaini to get stripped and ready for action to signal the end of the night for Pogba.
Manchester United beat Basel 3-0 thanks to goals from Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.
