Austria Vienna 1 AC Milan 5: New signing Andre Silva hits hat-trick with Hakan Calhanoglu and Suso net stunners as new-look Serie A giants shine
Seven-time European champions were playing continental football for first time since 2014 — and looked at home
AC MILAN'S impressive front three put down a real marker as the Serie A giants impressed on their return to Europe.
Andre Silva stole the headlines with a hat-trick in Vienna, but Hakan Calhanoglu opened the scoring with a stunning effort — while Nikola Kalinic's movement was equally as key.
Suso scored a sublime fifth from a long range effort with his first touch.
Alexandar Borkovic pulled one back for the hosts, who were thoroughly outplayed throughout.
Milan were returning to the scene for one of their most painful defeats, having lost the 1995 Champions League final to Louis van Gaal's Ajax at the Ernst Happel Stadium.
However, they soon ensured there would be nothing of the sort 22 years on.
Calhanoglu opened the scoring as early as the seventh minute with a stunning arrow into the top corner.
And, his tackle in midfield three minutes later helped send Silva through to slot home his first of the night.

The former Porto striker then doubled his tally with a similarly-taken strike ten minutes later.
If there was one criticism of Milan it was their diligence at corners — and that was their undoing as Borkovic pulled one back.
However, the ball was clearly outside the trident when the cross was taken.
That was a mere blip as the Rossoneri soon opened their opponents up again for Silva to complete his hat-trick.
Suso, who had been Milan's star last season, had struggled alongside some more prestigious names so far this campaign.
But he showed he is still a top dog at the club as he looped home a delightful effort with his first touch just moments after coming on.
