Crystal Palace are the WORST attacking team to start a Premier League season – beating Newcastle’s 12-year-old record
Eagles have now gone above Toon's former record of 438 minutes without a goal
CRSYTAL PALACE now have the unwanted honour of being the WORST attacking team to start a Premier League season.
Back in 2005, Newcastle went 438 minutes at the start of the season without finding the back of the net - but the struggling Eagles have now worsened that record.
Palace entered the match needing to score within 78 minutes to leave the record in Newcastle's hands.
But Roy Hodgson's blunt attack failed to find the net.
Fraser Forster had a big part to play in Palace drawing a blank - the big England keeper making two excellent saves from Christian Benteke and Jason Puncheon.
New boss Hodgson got off to the worst possible start in his first game as Palace manager, Steven Davis scoring from close-range after just six minutes.
Palace had chances but failed to hit back.
