ALBERT ADOMAH'S first-half double springboarded Villa to a well-deserved second win of the season.

The winger pounced on Barnsley keeper Adam Davies' error and tucked in a penalty before dangerman Keinan Davis headed Villa's third goal on 55 minutes.

Defeat ruined the Tykes' celebrations of 130 years at Oakwell and ended a run of three draws for Villa.

Steve Bruce's men are still just 13th, five points off the play-off zone.

But this was their first away triumph since March and a solid clean sheet for John Terry and Co at the back.

Villa looked the more confident side once home stopper Davies let a long ball slip through his legs in the 19th minute, enabling Adomah to slot into an empty net.

Then, when Davis was brought down by Adam Jackson a minute before the interval, Adomah fired home a high spot-kick.

Villa's Ivory coast frontman Jonathan Kodjia had a goal ruled out for offside soon after the break.

But Ahmed Elmohamady's right-wing cross was promptly powered into the bottom corner by teenage hitman Davis to complete Villa's easy win.

This crushing loss left Barnsley stuck in 20th place, albeit three points clear of the drop zone.

The Tykes, though, are one of only four sides to have played just seven matches, one game less than their rivals.
