Manchester City ‘to offer Kevin De Bruyne £200,000-a-week deal’, after manager Pep Guardiola labels Belgian ‘world class’
Etihad giants enjoy sensational week as they beat Liverpool 5-0, Feyenoord 4-0 and hit high-flying Watford for six
KEVIN DE BRUYNE will net a new £200,000-a-week contract after being branded "world class" by manager Pep Guardiola, according to reports.
The Manchester City boss was hailed his Belgian midfielder as one of the best players in the world following a sensational week.
He was instrumental as the Premier League title favourites followed up a 5-0 win over Liverpool by demolishing Feyenoord 4-0 — and then hitting Watford for six.
And the report Etihad chiefs are ready to reward De Bruyne with a new long-term deal.
The 26-year-old signed a £150,000-a-week deal when he joined from Wolfsburg in 2015 for £55million — and will see a £50k increase.
City are wary of risk of allowing De Bruyne go into the final two years of his contract, such is his growing stature in world football.
Domestic and European rivals would surely start circling round as he enters the peak of his career.
De Bruyne was at Chelsea as a youngster, but struggled to break into the first team — and was allowed to move to the Bundesliga.
Since returning to the Premier League, the Belgian has been sensational, continuing to improve.
And now he is among Guardiola's most important players.
City hope to get his future sorted before next summer's World Cup.
