Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain mocked on social media after waiting so long for full Liverpool debut – then flopping in their Carabao Cup defeat away to Leicester
Midfielder had been left on the bench after ditching Arsenal - but there was no delay in slating him over his first start
ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN might wish he had waited even longer for his full Liverpool debut.
Critics were already circling on social media after the £35million midfielder was left on the bench following his deadline-day switch from Arsenal to Anfield.
And Twitter erupted after his miserable night in Liverpool's 2-0 Carabao Cup exit at Leicester.
Oxlade-Chamberlain insists he ditched his regular role with the Gunners because Kop chief Jurgen Klopp planned to use him in his preferred central-midfield role.
But fans in their droves tweeted that the England star made little impact.
One supporter speculated that the Reds might loan him back to the Gunners.
And many were quick to note that Liverpool have yet to win in their four games since his arrival.
But other social media users insisted Oxlade-Chamberlain was a neat contributor to the Red's first-half superiority - only to fall away like his team-mates.
