Tammy Abraham DENIES he has turned his back on England and chosen to represent Nigeria

TAMMY ABRAHAM is at the centre of a tug-of-war between England and Nigeria.

SunSport revealed yesterday that Nigeria’s FA chief met the England Under-21 striker and his father in a bid to persuade him to play for them.

But, despite the Super Eagles closing in, Chelsea star Abraham has told the FA he is available for U-21 games against Scotland and Andorra next month.

Abraham, 19, said: “I would like to clarify I have not agreed to switch my national team allegiance.

"I can confirm I met the President of the NFF after our game against Tottenham at Wembley, given he is a friend of my father.

“I have informed the FA that I remain available for selection for England.”

Nigerian Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick said: “The talks are at an appreciable level and all is looking good.

“Tammy is like a son to me because his father was my childhood friend. He is a good prospect for the Super Eagles.”

Abraham, who qualifies for Nigeria through his parents, is on loan at Swansea this season.

And Swans boss Paul Clement has pleaded for the London-born forward to stick with England.
Clement said: “I’m not sure he’d be better off career-wise.”
