FOOTBALL fans have been arrested over alleged sectarian abuse as punters flood Glasgow city centre ahead of the Old Firm derby.

Cops confirmed two arrests around 11am, one in St Enoch Square and another in Glasgow's east end.

One 47-year-old man was arrested for alleged sectarian breach of the peace while another, whose age is unknown, was arrested over possession of a weapon and sectarian breach of the peace.

It comes just one hour before Celtic and Rangers' at Ibrox this afternoon.

Police have since warned fans that offensive behaviour will not be tolerated.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Two football fans have been arrested in Glasgow this morning before the event even kicks off.

"One man aged 47 years was arrested in Greendyke Street for an alleged sectarian breach of the peace whilst another was arrested in St Enochs Square for allegedly being in possession of an offensive weapon and also an alleged sectarian breach of the peace.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

"Police Scotland warn fans that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated and those breaking the law will be arrested."
