Barcelona ‘to return for Philippe Coutinho in January’ as Brazilian’s entourage continue to negotiate with Catalans and Liverpool finally contemplate sale

Reds superstar is ineligible for Champions League, having played against Sevilla, but Nou Camp giants are still keen

BARCELONA have not given up hope of luring Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool, and hope to make their move in January, according to reports in Catalonia.

The Brazilian was a major transfer target for the Nou Camp giants during the summer window, but the Reds held firm and kept hold of their man.

Coutinho, 25, has since revealed he was interested in the switch.

are reporting Barcelona have remained in regular contact with the former Inter Milan midfielder’s entourage in 25 days since failed move.

And that they are hoping to complete a deal in either January or next July with Liverpool contemplating — for the first time — the possibility of selling their superstar.

Coutinho’s agent and family have been in contact with the Anfield hierarchy and have been attempting to discuss an amicable exit from the club.

The article also insists that, despite reports, directors from the two clubs never met in person to discuss the transfer, and negotiations were all done via email.

One major obstacle over a winter move is that Coutinho played a part in Liverpool’s opening Champions League clash with Sevilla.
