Giorgio Chiellini bloodied and requires EIGHT stitches in head after horror clash in Juventus win over Olympiacos

But defender tells fans: 'I’ve got three points on the field and eight stitches in my head. All that counted was the win'

GIORGIO CHIELLINI needed eight stitches after a nasty clash of heads as Juventus beat Olympiakos 2-0.

Chiellini collided with Bjorn Engels in the final minute of the Champions League game in Turin.

He carried on with a large blue bandage on his head and posted the image on Instagram:

“I’ve got three points on the field and eight stitches in my head.

"All that counted tonight was the win. Let’s carry on like this."

The defender helped the Italian champions to a comfortable victory - their first in the Champions League this season - over their Greek opponents.

Engels came out of the clash intact and finished the game in relative comfort - other than the effects of a Euro loss.

Two second-half goals from strikers Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic settled the fixture.

It was Juventus' fourth win on the bounce and moved them up to third in group D.

A 3-0 defeat by Barcelona in their European opener is  their only defeat in all competitions this season.

Chiellini, meanwhile, is close to agreeing a contract extension with Juve to take him through to 2020.

The long-serving centre-half's current deal with the reigning Serie A champions is up next summer.
